Tzatziki with Fresh Herbs

Servings 2 pints, Total time 15 minutes

This refreshing yogurt sauce is a favorite year-round, but summer wouldn’t be the same without it. The creamy texture and tangy flavor of tzatziki make it the perfect accompaniment for various dishes. Fire up the grill to char some succulent souvlaki to perfection, and serve it with tzatziki and warm pita. Combining warm pita, grilled souvlaki, and cool tzatziki creates a satisfying mix of flavors and textures. This vibrant sauce will brighten your summer barbecues. It pairs beautifully with fresh salads and grilled vegetables. Use it as a dip or a dressing; either way, you'll find that tzatziki transforms any meal into a celebration.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of strained Greek yogurt or labneh

  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped, plus extra for garnish

  • ¼  shredded cucumber, strained

  • 1 tsp dry mint

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 ½   tsp salt

  • 3 tsp minced fresh garlic

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Steps:

  1. Mix all the ingredients and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

  2. Serve in a shallow bowl, drizzle olive oil, and sprinkle with fresh dill and lemon zest! Pita bread pairs perfectly with the tzatziki, along with fresh vegetables.

Notes:

I always prepare extra tzatziki for the following days. You can scale the recipe down to half.  Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to four days.
